From time to time the police department receives calls from residents to confirm the legitimacy of telephone solicitations from law enforcement agencies. Please be advised that the Newton Police Department never engages in telephone solicitations. The Newton Police Association, which is a non-profit association, is not currently involved in any telephone solicitations.
There are, however, some legitimate law enforcement agencies that do use telephone solicitation as a basis for fund raising. Some of these agencies are the New Hampshire Police Association, the New Hampshire Police Chief's Association, the New Hampshire State Police Association, and the Rockingham County Police Officer's Association.
The Newton Police Department does not make recommendations on which agencies, if any, that should be considered for private donations. This is not meant to be an endorsement of any of the organizations listed, or an endorsement of telephone or other means of solicitation. Each organization should be considered on an individual basis for donations. The Newton Police Department only wants to advise the public that these organizations do exist, and attempt to explain current and typical methods of fund raising.
