The police department routinely receives calls (at least once a week) for loose horses in Newton. Because a loose horse is a serious safety issue for the horse, as well as for the public, we are asking Newton residents who are horse owners to provide the police department with emergency contact information. In the event a horse becomes loose and the owner is not at home, the Animal Control Officer will be contacted and every attempt will be made to safely capture the horse and return it to its residence. If the ACO or a police officer is unable to capture the horse, it is imperative that the police department have the ability to contact the owner, or a designated contact person. Horse Owner Contact Information Sheets are available at the Town Hall or at the police station.

Thank you for your cooperation.
